Set in the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park, The Old Billiard Room is part of a large country mansion built in 1861 by a local family who made their fortune from cotton.
The Old Billiard Room is a self-catering holiday apartment dating back to 1861 standing in 5 acres of the pleasant park-like grounds of Moorfield House. The Old Billiard Room is an attractive open-plan holiday apartment.
It was originally the billiard hall of Moorfield House and retains many original and remarkable architectural features such as carved beams and supports, wood panelling and an etched glass ceiling. The main area is divided into an extensive lounge with suite, colour digital TV/DVD player and CD/cassette/radio and a dining area with table and 6 chairs. The double bed is located on a mezzanine floor overlooking the living area. Beneath the bedroom area is the bathroom with bath/shower, basin and WC and the modern kitchen with washer/dryer, dishwasher, electric cooker, fridge, microwave and all the usual kitchen equipment. There is gas central heating throughout and the rental price includes water, electricity, gas, linen and towels.
Although for 2 people, the large size of the lounge area makes it possible for an additional bed to be set up there. (£15 additional charge). The Billiard Room is, however, open plan and the bedroom on the mezzanine floor overlooks the lounge.
There are magnificent views across the large landscaped gardens which residents are welcome to use. There is ample parking space. All water, gas, electricity, linen and towels are included in the rental price. Wireless internet access is available in a covered area immediately outside the Old Billiard Room.
Situated 2 miles from the centre of Glossop, a bustling market town, it is a mile from both the A624 and A57 (Snake Pass) roads and so easily reached by car. The nearest bus is one mile away and the railway, two miles away, has a half hourly service to the centre of Manchester (journey time 30 minutes).
Nestling amongst the foothills of Kinder Scout, The Old Billiard Room's location is excellent for fell walking or visiting nearby Manchester, Cheshire and Yorkshire, as well as the rest of Derbyshire.
