Our refurbished Barn has views from every window and we're proud of our Visit Wales 5 star award. This is a rural paradise: our closest neighbours mile away, and the only noise coming from sheep in the surrounding pastures. We live in a separate house and are on hand to answer any questions, but far enough away not to intrude!
The Barn is in a delightful part of West Wales, near the top of Llanllwni Mountain adjacent to Brechfa Forest. The area is only now being discovered by enthusiastic cyclists and walkers, who may previously have overlooked the wonders of Carmarthenshire on route to Pembrokeshire.
The fully equipped kitchen has hob, oven, fridge and microwave and its open plan allows the residents to relax in front of the fire, or sit at the dining room table. There is TV with free view box and DVD player. The large entrance porch has room for outdoor gear. The adjacent utility room has a toilet, freezer, washer and tumble dryer, along with a Belfast sink for washing muddy boots and paws.
We've stocked the kitchen with washing up liquid, hand soap, kitchen roll, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar and in the summer fresh herbs are available from the Barn's garden. We also provide loo rolls, a dog towel, pooh bags and dog bowls in case you've forgotten your own. We've just added some brown hens to our paddock, so there's free range eggs on offer for a small charge, plus we can organise an organic vegetable box if you call in advance. The delivery day is Thursday, so it can be waiting for your Friday arrival.
We're verydog friendly at The Barn, and you'll be greeted by our own German wire haired Pointer named Dennis.
The area is unspoiled and offers cycle tracks in Brechfa Forest (a mere mile from the front door) which are arguably the best in West Wales, including the famous Raven, Gorlech and Derwen trails to make your heart race. There are buzzards and kites riding the thermals, and miles of footpaths for discovery. Forest trails on logging tracks offer stable walking, only minutes from The Barn. Within an hour's drive lies the Pembrokeshire Coast, Cardigan Bay with its stunning harbour side villages, the captivating Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons, and beaches at Pembrey, Laugharne, Llanstephan and Tresaith. Closer to home are several National Trust properties, the gold mines at Dolaucothi, the National Botanic Garden of Wales, the gardens of Aberglasney, Gwili Pottery, the Four Seasons Health and Leisure centre at Nantgaredig and acres of countryside to walk and cycle.
The mighty River Towy - the Welsh Mecca for fishermen and anglers - is just 25 minutes from the door and our guests tell us the fishing is superb!
We require a security deposit of 100 to be returned following departure, once we've had a chance to check and ensure everything's as it should be.
This is sophisticated accommodation for active people, and we welcome dogs with their well behaved owners!
