Three miles east of Canterbury, Bridge enjoys a quiet country setting and yet retains all the amenities and accessibility needed for a great family holiday. Bridge is located at the edge of the Elham Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This semi-detached house is available all year for both long and short breaks.
Downstairs you will find a kitchen, south facing conservatory and lounge-dining room with dining table and chairs, double sofa bed, easy chairs, TV with freeview and DVD player and an electric fire. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower over the bath and separate toilet. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and built-in wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has twin beds and built in wardrobe. Bedroom 3 has a single bed. The house has gas fired central heating throughout.
The property is situated 120 yards, on a level walk to the main village street, where there is a Butcher, Post Office, Pharmacy, Grocery and Recreation Ground. The White Horse, Red Lion and Plough & Harrow pubs (slipper distance) in the village all serve food. Bridge Shop is just 100m away and stocks a good range of food and essentials. A cash point (ATM) is 100m away (charges fee).
In nearby Canterbury there are many attractions including the Cathedral, New Marlowe Theatre, County Cricket Ground, swimming pool, leisure centre and popular shopping area. There is a large outlet shopping centre at Ashford (20 miles). The castles of Kent (such as Leeds, Dover, Rochester)are all within easy visiting distance. Howletts Wild Life Park is just 3 miles away. The Channel Tunnel at Folkestone (16 miles) and Dover ferry ports (15 miles) are within easy reach for a day trip to France or beyond!
To the north there is the pretty town of Whitstable, known worldwide for its oysters. The sandy beaches of the Thanet Coast are approximately 18 miles away. Within half an hours drive you can find the beaches of Herne Bay, Broadstairs, Folkestone and Hythe as well as Margate with the new Turner Contemporary exhibition.
There are lots of opportunities for golf in the surrounding area. Royal St Georges (2011 British Open venue) in Sandwich is just 10 miles away. More locally golf is available in Canterbury (3 miles) and there are many other good local courses from 9 hole par 3 to championship par 18.
The village of Bridge is served by a bus service to Caterbury and surrounding area (check local timetables). There is a rail station at Bekesbourne, on the Dover -Canterbury-London line. A car is not essential but is recommended for your visit in order to enjoy the area more fully.
This is an ideal base for walks with many footpaths in the surrounding area and maps and literature on walks available in the house, one dog is welcome. In the main bedroom you will find bedding for the sofa bed, as well as space for storage and a box of books and games for children of all ages. Please note: Although no cot can be provided, there is room for one in the double bedroom.
