Description of the cottage

The Old Apple Loft is a two storey annex converted from its orignal use as an old cider house. It is attached to a former Geogian farmhouse which in its history has also served as a Pottery, tea Rooms, Shop and Post Office to the village. It can sleep up to 7 people, plus a childs bed or cot is accommodated in the second bedroom if required.

The accommodation sits in the centre of the village adjacent to the old village cross, and is within 10 metres of the village shop, church and local Westbury Inn which serves food and specialist events.

The accommodation comprises on the upper floor :
- Entrance lobby for boots and coats
- Lounge with corner suite, and seperate settee. TV/DVD player with video player, Hi-Fi, double sofa bed to sleep 2, floor to ceiling storage cupboards, stairs down to ground floor bedrooms
- Kitchen / Diner - with table to seat 8, full sized cooker, microwave, and fridge/freezer.
- Bathroom with white suite comprising bath and shower over, toilet and sink
- Twin Bedroom with en-suite shower room, flat screen TV with freeview, room for cot if required

The lower floor comprises :
- Double bedroom with patio doors opening out into courtyard
- Single bedroom with additonal childs bed (for aged up to 4)
- Shower room with sink and toilet
- Utility area with belfast sink and washing machine

The private courtyard is over shadowed by a very large Fig tree over 100 years old, and is ideal for BBQ's and al fresco dining.

Baby equipment is available if required (cot, high chair and bath), in addition to a child stair gate if needed.

There is gas central heating and hot water included, and the property is provided with bedding and towels for guests.

There are two parking places within the grounds of the property, and barns available for storage of bikes if required.

Westbury-sub-Mendip is situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, and is sandwiched between Cheddar Gorge and the City of Wells. Both are only 3 miles away. The Mendip area is steeped in history and legend associated with Roman and Iron Age remains, the ruins of medieval castles and Glastonbury Abbey - the cradle of Christianity in England and the legendary land of King Arthur - and the majestic Wells Cathedral, the crowing glory of England's smallest city.

Somerset spreads across the West Country and is famous for cider and cheese. The Mendip Hills have been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty and offer countless walks, and views across the reclaimed Somerset Levels.

Places to visit include Wookey Hole, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Wells, Bath, Street and Taunton. A little further are Slimbridge, Berkeley Castle, Longleat House and Safari Park, and Stonehenge.

1 pet welcome.

I do short stays throughout most of the year, from 3 nights. If you would like to stay just 2 nights, then please ring to discuss.
