Wheelchair access is provided through the rear of the property and there is Level1 mobility suitability throughout the cottage. The cottage has been furnished with locally made pine furniture to add authenticity.
Felbrook cottage is ideally placed to explore all the best bits of Hadrians Wall, We are only 5 minutes by car from Vindolanda. Housesteads, and the Roman Army Museum. Children can enjoy the many events throughout the summer that take place at these sites.Gibbs Hill is a haven for Walkers and Birdwatchers. There are numerous walks from the farm and one of the Sunday Times Best Walks in England takes place over our land.Gibbs Hill is also ideally situated to use as a base for the long distance Hadrians Wall Trail, as we are right in the middle of the Walk. Visitors are able to use the Hadrians Wall bus to transport them to the start of their walk or to bring them back. The present family are the fifth generation to farm at Gibbs Hill, and they farm in a totally environmentally friendly way.Membership of the Higher Level Stewardship scheme has meant the farm has a programme of dry stone walling, there is much heather regeneration and low stocking rates encourage many ground nesting birds to stay. Curlew, sparrowhawk, kestrel, and merlin are all resident and an osprey is a frequent visitor in summer. Greenlee Lough Nature Reserve is on our land and there is a most interesting walk over the Peat Mires across a boardwalk .A washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the laundry room along with a payphone.
Wallington and Cragside are renowned National Trust properties and they are about a 1 hour drive. Durham and Carlisle are a similar drive and Hexham with its magnificent Abbey is only 25 minutes away.
