It is a perfect base for visiting the nearby Roman City of Chester or the historic town of Shrewsbury and the area's several museums, as well as the National Trust properties of Chirk Castle, Erddig, Powys Castle and Attingham park.
There are many unspoilt beauty spots nearby such as the meres at Ellesmere, Llanrhaeadr waterfall, Lake Vyrnwy, the Berwyns, the Ceiriog Valley and Llangollen. It is less than 2 miles from Offa's Dyke long distance footpath and provides a perfect centre for walking.
